The most prominent of the 21st century skills was Informational Skills. due to this being a tech project we were required to use computers and a relatively new program known as Photoshop. This required us to process information that our teacher gave us, like "turn the opacity on layer two for the eyes" and we had to actually input the command on the computer to make that happen. The second of the 21st century skills that we had to use was Self-Directional Skills. It may not seem like it, but this wasn't too much of a "hand holdey" assignment although we did get some direction as he sat at the front of the class and showed us what he suggests that we do. This meant that If someone thought that they could enhance the image further with something else they could and he wouldn't force you to do what he was doing. Although if you just messed around and did what my friend did and "waffled" the image you wouldn't have the best grade. Next we needed to use Creative Problem Solving. This was my next choice because if you wanted a specific thing done with this project you have to get a bit creative in Photoshop, like if the eyes looked a bit dull you could make a new layer with just the eyes and turn the warmth up and the opacity down to make the eyes a bit brighter. Finally, you weirdly enough needed Interpersonal Skills. This is mostly because if you needed to know something about Photoshop you would defensively need to ask someone for help, and if you cant do that then your dead in the water.
What are you proud of in this assignment, and why?
I'm actually very proud of how the end result was very good for someone that had never touched Photoshop before. I'm also very happy that I learned some nice tricks for enhancing photos.
How did you develop or improve on your 21st century skills?
I think that I developed my Informational Skills the most on this assignment because I actually learned a lot of things about photo editing, but I also learned how to solve problems a bit better and to be a bit more creative with my projects.
What was most difficult about completing this project?
I think the most difficult aspect of this project was the fact that I had almost never touched Photoshop in my life prior to this project.
How could you improve your work if you could start over?
If I could start over I would try to make the lips not look so drawn on, maybe by turning the opacity down on the layer that was meant for improving the lips so its not such of an abrupt change in color.
How dose this relate to what you learned in the past?
I don't actually think this relates to much of anything in the past. I have never participated in a project that required me to enhance a picture without it being too obvious. This also applies tot the techniques we used, I have never messed around with the opacity of a layer to add color to a certain part of the picture.
How can you apply this to future learning?
I could apply these methods to a future Photoshop project. Or more importantly, I could use that sort of, mindset that this creative project required.
