Makahiki Games
On Fridays I have a community engagement class where my class and I work on projects for the school and the community. My class chose to put together a game day in which the middle schoolers would compete in Hawaiian games that were played during the Makahiki season. I am working on my project with the rest of my class so I have to use my communication and interpersonal skills so I can work with my team. Although strangely enough to complete this project I have to use the Financial and Economic skills, which I had never actually had to use on a school assignment up until now.
I feel kind of proud that this project mostly, because the entire school will stand to benefit from this. I also feel pretty proud of the degree of planning my group is doing, as of right now I have never done this much planning on a school project.
I think I saw the most improvement in my interpersonal skills because I have to work with my entire class, which was bordering upon being too many people working on the same project. I also improved and am still improving upon my Financial and Economic skills, because I little to no previous experience in making things like cost estimates at the start of the project.
The most challenging part of this project is probably gonna be procrastination. With a project that takes as much time to complete as this it is very easy to just do nothing, especially in the earlier in the project. On top of that I love to procrastinate, so this is going to take some extra work on my part to stay focused.
If I could start this project over I would work on making significant progress every week, rather than chipping away at it. This would probably make it easier in the long run, as I would have had less of a work load t words the end of the project.
This project is one of the only projects that I have done so far that doesn't relate to anything I've done before. I'm probably gonna see projects like this later on, but this is the first time that I had a hand in planning a large game day.
A lot of this project is new to me, and most arias don't actually apply to anything I've learned in the past. Accept of course for basic things like recerching things that need to be understood to complete the project. That being said, this project has a very simmiler planning process to an Eagle Project, which I plan to complete this year.
